I have the same story as most; I loved creating as a child, I was always painting, drawing, making, fixing, and creating. During school I discovered my true passion for artwork and painting. The technique I pursue the most now; acrylic pouring was something I’d never seen before, something fresh and unique. Something that, even if you did it a thousand times over, you’d never ever be able to replicate it. I loved that, and I still do.
I think this style very much reflects our lives, even though paintings can be created with the same colours, the same quantities and even the same intentions, they will all turn out so differently from each other- in other words, every single painting is completely unique, just like our journeys and ourselves.
After completing my Diploma in Art and Design in college, I worked in a supermarket whilst trying to get my business off of the ground. Truthfully, I found this to be exhausting. I had no energy left for me, for me to be able to tap into the relaxed, open space I need in which to create the way I do. I found it very difficult to create from a true place of purity and excitement for life while working a job that didn’t align with my soul.
Every day at work, I was talking to customers, stretching my comfort zone and building my confidence. After a while of speaking to the public on a daily basis, I realised something that made me really upset. Most people are wishing their lives away and waiting for the weekend. Irritated that they had to go to work, not enjoying what they spend most of their time doing. I didn’t want to be like that. I felt like I had to do something to change the trajectory of my life.
My friend invited me to go on a tour of the east coast of Australia and just before we booked it she cancelled, which meant that I couldn’t go. For about a minute. I booked this trip by myself because why should I wait for someone else to join me just to start living my life ??!!
I spent two months in Australia, visiting the most beautiful places, soaking up every bit of inspiration I could gather, speaking to and learning about strangers lives, sharing interesting conversations and best of all, pushing myself wayyyy out of my comfort zone. I got really comfortable with feeling uncomfortable (yes you read that right.) I learnt a lot about the people I want to surround myself with and how people can be intimidated by someone who is very open, honest and, so outwardly in love with life.
Just incase you think you are or have been ‘too much’ I’m telling you now that you never ever have been too much. You just weren’t around the right people.
When I came home, I realised that I wanted to create a wonderful life for myself and for my future family, whilst having fun on the journey. I want to help people in a different way. I want to create and inspire, I want to pass on this feeling of pure excitement for being alive and for everyone else to relish in the thrill of being alive on Earth at this time. I believe that my art is imbued with these emotions and the canvases pour them out onto whoever is open enough to feel them.
I hope you are able to feel even a sliver of excitement and love from my work through this screen. I hope you are able to see and feel what you need in the moments when you look at my work, sometimes this may change, especially when you learn about what others see in each piece, it all changes with the more you learn; just like life. I hope my work can remind you that without all of the tiny details, there would be a very bland big picture. All of the ups and downs, little things we pass everyday without a second thought, they are all tiny pieces of our ‘big pictures’ and should be cherished and embraced as much as they can, while we still have the chance.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Love and Light,
